Reaction to New Beford Child Abuse Case

After reading an article in the Boston Herald,  I found it shocking that there is a known child abuse case so nearby.  Most child abuse cases are unknown to the media or to the authorities in general.  But usually people don't think that it is so close to home.

I am angered to know that family members have requested that the child be taken out of the home in fear of his safety, but Child Services did nothing before hand.  It also angers me that the abuse had been so bad, the preschooler, who was the youngest of three, had to be hospitalized. He needs to remain at the Children's Hospital for two weeks.  Custody is being handed over to the grandmother and it was recently discovered that mother was addicted to drugs.  The man who abused the boy was the mother's "boyfriend".

Even though the abuse was horrific, it's relieving to know that the child is out of the dangerous environment and that his parents are most likely going to face jail time.
