Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr was born in September 27, 1982 in New Orleans. He goes by the name of Wayne because he has the same name of his father who wasn't in his life so he dropped the D. He acted in school plays and eventually dropped out of high school when 14. He later got his GED. He joined Cash Money Records as a teenager. He has a daughter, Reginae Carter, with his high school sweetheart. They were married on Valentines Day of 2004, but divorced in 2006. He had a son, Dwayne Carter III, on October 22, 2008. The child's mother is unknown. He had another child, Lennox Samuel Ari, who was born September 9, 2009. His mother is the actress Lauren London. His fourth child Neal, was born on November 30, 2009 with singer Nivea.
His music influence was Nirvana, according to his statement in an interview. He has sold over one million records of his album Tha Carter 3 in one week. At 11 he met Birdman who let him record freestyles on his answering machine. He is now nominated to win Album of the Year and Best Rap Album for the 51st Grammy Awards.
